The San Diego Sea Dragons in conjunction with the Southwest Regional Steering Committee are excited to announce this year’s Southwest regional potluck-style tournament!

What is the format?

For this potluck-style tournament, each registered player will be assigned to a pod of approximately four players. For each game, two pods will join up to face off against another pair of pods (2 pods vs. 2 pods). Over the course of the day, you’ll partner with a variety of other pods for each game so that you play with every other pod at least once—creating a fun, social, and dynamic tournament format that emphasizes collaboration and adaptability.

Games will be scheduled with generous 7–8 minute breaks between matches, giving players time to regroup, coordinate positions, and meet their new teammates before the next round. Please indicate any scheduling difficulties on the registration form or contact us directly.

Following Saturday’s play, participants are invited to a catered taco dinner, providing a relaxed opportunity to unwind and socialize after a full day in the pool.

The schedule is:

• 8AM-3PM Saturday: Potluck tournament, most pods will play 6 games

• 3PM-5PM Saturday: catered tacos on site

• 9AM-12PM Sunday: Lightning Round Games. We'll split apart the pods, mix up the players and put together a series of short games  (played to 5 points tops) of algorithmically curated teams of the players who remain.

(Sunday games are totally optional. Anybody who can only make Saturday is still encouraged to come. All games with your pod will take place on Saturday, so nobody will be at a loss if you can't make Sunday.)

Payment

After registering here, please submit payment to our club treasurer, Jim Melrod. The price is $150 for general admission (or $120 for early bird) plus $20 per person for tacos.
